My Students
As students continue to get older, they often lose interest in reading. My response to this is "everyone is a reader - some just haven't found their favorite book yet." By the end of the school year, most of the reluctant readers are reading sequels to the books that were introduced in class.
My hope is to expose students to quality literature in many different genres in order to help them grow not only as readers and writers but as young people too.

My Project
My classroom was given thirty Kindle Fire tablets this year. It was funded through a grant in addition to many community member's contributions. Since this was due to the generosity of others, I want to protect the investment in our students by using Garunk screen protectors and protective cases.
Our classroom will be using the Kindles in literature circles, independent reading as well as whole-class novels.
Students are thrilled for the opportunity to use technology to read and learn. Most of them have never used a Kindle before. Funding this project will help bridge the technology gap and open doors for our 21st-century learners.
