Mrs. Lee from Indianapolis IN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 4 e-Readers to use in the classroom for small group reading instruction, differentiation, and long lasting engaging texts.

"Rip!" That is the sound of another book accidentally being torn from years of page turning. I love using authentic text for my students, and they love it as well. What we don't love is how quickly books become well used with a class of about 30 students each year.
We are in a high poverty urban area where students are yearning for engaging technology.
About 78% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. In my fifth grade classroom, I have about 30 students with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, cultures, special education needs, speech needs, and language needs. Our school has about 700 students from kindergarten through 6th grade. As 5th graders, they are learning how to responsibly use technology, and how it can impact their life in a positive way.
Students in my class love technology, and I would love to give them the chance to read various texts using technology. This would allow for engagement in a technology world. Students would have access to thousands of books, whether they are in the school or classroom library or not. Financially, E-books are much more cost effective, and they last forever! I can also rent books from our public library for free. Students will also be able to look at local, state, and world news through newspapers. This will increase students' global awareness and knowledge of current events.
This will make such a positive impact on my students.
We will be able to "bookmark" without dog earing pages, share ideas in small groups, highlight on the pages to mark vocabulary words or passages for discussion, and have it all on one small durable, space saving device!
