Kindergarten is full of learning, laughter, fun, and investigation! My kindergarten class consists of 20 energetic students. Some of my students are ESL (English as a Second Language) learners, and they come to me at the beginning of the year with little to no English. And for many of my students this is their very first school experience.
More than three-quarters of our students are from low-income households, making over 76% of our student population eligible for free or reduced lunch.
My Project
I started integrating computer skills and coding into my kindergarten curriculum last year. I would love the opportunity this year to expand on these experiences for my students to explore and engage. This is why I am requesting these 3 Osmo Coding Awbie kits and 3 Osmo Coding Jam kits. These kits would be incorporated into our weekly coding stations.
Learning coding skills early will help my students become more comfortable with computers and technology.
The Osmo Coding Awbie has students use basics of logic and problem-solving to venture through five diverse worlds on a mission to save the mountain. The Osmo Coding Jam has students get creative and make music with code. Both of these coding kits are hands-on and a fun way to learn to code.
Donations towards this project will be helping a classroom of kindergarten students further their understanding of coding and STEM education. I hope to give my students the foundation they need to build upon and increase their knowledge of STEM throughout their education.
