I am the teacher of 20 smart, kind, and curious kindergartners. We are a part of a public magnet school for world language with a unique approach. Not only do we have language class every day, but students are also exposed to a curriculum centered around global citizenship. It is never too early to learn about global citizenship and what it means to live in this changing world.
Despite 92% of our students living in low income households, my scholars come to school every day ready to learn and eager for any opportunity that comes their way.
We especially love reading, playing outside, and our class mascot (Mr. Banana the stuffed monkey). Most of all, we love working together in our diverse classroom where everyone adds value to our community.
In a kindergarten classroom, the majority of whole group learning is on the carpet. On the carpet, students sing educational songs, play math games, work with others, and listen to read-a-louds. In my classroom, the carpet is where we build our community and it is central to learning.
My scholars need a carpet that is clean and big enough for all 20 learners to sit comfortably.
The carpet we have now has experienced many years of kindergartners, and although it is well loved, it is time for something new.
In addition to learning, our carpet has endured some unfortunate events, such as accidents, throw up, and art projects that have gotten out of hand. Students also struggle to have enough space to sit comfortably.
The carpet I am requesting has everything we need: large in size, durable, and an educational aspect (letters on the border). Help me provide my students with the best learning environment possible!
