The energy level in my kindergarten classroom is high and my students are eager to learn and work hard every day. They are interested in everything from reading and math, to singing and painting. My goal is to give all of my students what they need to grow and be successful in school.
Some have never been to school before and are learning letters and sounds for the first time.
Others are already reading and are ready to do more! One thing they all have in common is their enthusiasm and love for school. I want to give them all the opportunities to learn and grow at their own pace. We work in small groups to practice their reading skills and the foundational skills that they need to be successful.
My Project
I am requesting a listening center so that my kindergarten students will have the opportunity to listen to stories during their free time. This is usually one of the most popular activities in my classroom and my current listening center has broken down with all of its use over the years. The listening center will give me the freedom to work with other children in a small group while these students are quietly enjoying listening to stories that they love. Young children learning to read enjoy listening to stories repetitively and studies show that this is beneficial and can help them to become better readers.
