Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of bright, energetic Kindergartners. Most all lost their home and all of their belongings due to Hurricane Harvey. Our entire classroom, school, was devastated by this hurricane. We have had to start from scratch in gaining new supplies and items to fill our classroom for these wonderful children who have lost so much already. As we strive to provide some type of security and normalcy in the lives of these young children, donations from this program will allow us the ability of providing multiple learning tools that will help put a little bit of routine and structure back into the children's daily routine.
My Project
A Kindergarten room is just not the same without an art center. In this project, I have requested a shelving unit designated for art supplies along with clear bins in which to store them. Most of my students' homes flooded due to Hurricane Harvey and so did our beautiful little classroom; along with all the shelving and storage that we had. My students need a storage unit and bins. Since then, we have held class in a local church.
My students are fierce over-comers!
They have been through so much within this first year of their educational journey. I am so blessed to be their teacher and to see them grow, learn, and create each and every day. A new art center would be a welcome addition to our sweet little class. This would give them a designated area in which to draw, imagine, express, and have fun; as they so deserve!
