Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of students at our school come from a socioeconomically disadvantaged background. Many of our students do not have preschool experience, and some have never been read to at home. For many students, this is the first time they are socializing outside the familiar comfort of family.
My students like to learn about many things from books and real life experiences.
Books are a valuable tool that gives them the opportunity to use their imaginations and increase their knowledge about many new and different subjects. Most importantly, books help them get in touch with their feelings, opinions, and how they perceive their world and others.
My Project
My students are so thrilled that we are getting more Todd Parr books because many of his books have pages that are humorous to them and make them laugh.
Young children can relate to Todd Parr books because he can make important subject matters easy to understand.
He writes and draws in a way that evokes in them many feelings and emotions that they sometimes have a hard time expressing.
Currently, we are doing opinion/persuasive writing and one paper choice is for book reports. Many students are interested in doing book reports about his books! Good reviews, too!
Todd Parr is definitely a special person and a gifted children’s writer that attracts young readers to desire more of his books! Please help us get more of his beautiful books!
