Kindergarteners Need Listening Resources

My students need a listening program that allows them to practice their letter sounds, letter identification skills, and letter formations (handwriting). This program allows for students to work on these skills in an independent listening station.

My Students

Keeping a variety of classroom materials available is necessary to keep young learners engaged and excited about school. In our kindergarten classroom, the variety of student interests and abilities is endless, and it is important that students are given the right opportunities and appropriate tools to be able to reach their full potential in the classroom.

In a kindergarten classroom with twenty-four students, there are many instances where students must work independently while their teacher is working with a small group.

Our classroom is in need of materials that allow for meaningful times of independence and learning. Kindergarten is a time to build self-confidence and positive worth ethic, and independent activities are what will build my students into our world's next generation of leaders.

My Project

These materials will make a huge difference in my classroom by allowing my students to independently practice letter skills. Each day students work in small groups that allows the teacher to target certain skills that students need to work on individually. When students are not working directly with the teacher, they need to be given opportunities that provide independence and that are individualized.

Meaningful independent time in kindergarten can be difficult to create due to student age, maturity, and attention span at this particular grade level.

However, these new listening centers will provide these experiences and students tend to really enjoy them.
