I teach a dynamic group of fabulous kindergarten students in an extremely diverse school in New York. My students love reading funny stories, writing, poetry, creating art, exploring in science, learning new words, building, dancing, singing, playing math games, playing with puppets, and learning new facts. We are obsessed with our composting worm bin!
My class absolutely loves our beloved puppet, Chef Lotsa Words.
He cooks up sight words, poems, vocabulary words, and books each day in his "magic" pot. My students are funny, enthusiastic, inquisitive, compassionate, and sweet.
My Project
My kindergarten students are going to embark on a year long worm study! We would love a compost worm bin. I would love to add an earthworm viewing kit so my students can peek into the underground world of earthworms! We will see how they turn waste into soil and dig tunnels to create drainage for plants. We can perform experiments to demonstrate how worms live and work underground. We also would love to create fall holiday cards for homebound senior citizens to be added to their City Meals On Wheels meals. We could use heart stickers and flower stickers so we can make Valentine's Day and spring cards. I would love to have color coded crayon and flair pen bins for each table.
Your donation will help us learn more about worms, help us spread joy with our holiday cards and help keep us more organized!
