I have 17 wonderfully diverse learners. They are young and love to do yoga and meditation. It's great for helping them focus and gain emotional knowledge through social-emotional learning. We use it as movement break and also spend more time doing it as our physical education.
Our island kids have lots of energy that needs to be focused and released in a positive way.
We celebrate the wonderful diversity of our population and work to harmonize all of the various energies.
My Project
Aloha! Kindergarten is the time to start teaching mindfulness. I've trained and taught yoga for about 20 years now, and I've found it very helpful. We live in an island community, and our students are super sweet kids who really enjoy school.
We try to get a little yoga in almost every day and then spend a little time with an extended practice on Wednesdays.
Yoga mats would really help so we can practice in our room and not always in the grass, which, although beautiful, is sometimes wet in the morning. The kinders are really excited to stretch their minds and bodies.
