Help me give my students Magnetic Tabletop Pocket Charts and My Writing Journal so scholars will have more opportunities to grow in the area of writing and drawing out their ideas.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my first year teaching kindergarten and I absolutely love it! My scholars come with many personalities and levels of development and I wouldn't trade it for the world. They try their best everyday given the resources we have in the classroom. I have scholars that need a little more assistance and I try to provide them with resources that will best fit their needs. I work with scholars that come from low income families so they stress to me that they don't always have the materials to help them at home.
They are now working more with reading (segmenting and blending), writing, and working with numbers up to 20 (number bonds).
Given the materials I was provided by the school in the beginning of the school year, I have found myself having to purchase much more that'll best tailor to my scholars needs. Based on my teacher's salary I can't afford to provide the best resources to help them become more successful. I will say, given what we have they try their best but I want to be able to ensure they are getting the best education.
My Project
My scholars have been learning how to segment and blend as well as write sentences so these materials will definitely help them to master these skills. They are encouraged to label their pictures and to sound out words when making up sentences on their own. This has been a long and difficult task for some scholars but with these materials I feel that they will be better prepared for first grade.
With these materials I can make my lessons more effective to help my scholars reach the target goal before the school year is out.
I can see their faces now, lighting up as they can have fun while learning at the same time. While exploring these materials, they can acquire a new found excitement for learning and they will be able to better retain what they've learned.
