"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." (Dr. Seuss) My goal is for my students to develop a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives! My hope is to conduct a complete CLASSROOM TRANSFORMATION into a construction site, which will make learning more engaging and fun for these young learners!
My students are readers, writers, thinkers, problem solvers, scientists, and investigators.
Despite where they come from and whether they had any prior schooling, my students are eager to learn. They are always willing to take risks and be challenged.
My school serves students from Kindergarten through 5th grade, and includes a full day kindergarten program. I teach an inclusion kindergarten class. In my classroom, all of my students are between the ages of five and six years old and range in academic ability levels. My students need a complete classroom transformation to practice their reading skills in a new, fun, and engaging way!
My classroom transformation will begin by completing decorating my room with construction themed materials such as construction tablecloths and decorations. Each student will receive a construction hat and vest to dress the part. Students will rotate through a variety of learning stations all construction themed. For example, one center will involve students using magnetic letter and number pieces and foam pieces from the construction set to build letters, words, and sentences. Another center will have various letters on construction cone accents and construction hard hats in order to build CVC words.
My hope is to transform my kindergarten classroom into a CONSTRUCTION ZONE for my students to review and practice building their letters, words, and sentences, all while having FUN!
