Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive and eager to learn five year olds, that come to school ready to learn. They love reading, asking questions and learning about everything!
My students are special because they are enrolled in a Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program where they are learning to read, write and speak in two languages.
They don't let anything stand in their way to learning. My enthusiastic youngsters attend a Title I, Program Improvement, Charter School in an urban neighborhood setting in California.
My Project
Half of my students are English speakers that are learning to read, write, and speak in Spanish. I use a variety of teaching strategies to help them learn the language, and they are doing an amazing job of learning Spanish in school. Although we continuously practice Spanish in the classroom, many times it is not enough for these students because they don't have Spanish speaking models at home. With these fun Spanish file folder games and the Spanish learning locks, students will have the opportunity to practice the Spanish skills they are learning in school, at home with their families.
By donating to my class, my students will be the "teachers" and help their families learn Spanish.
They will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned in the classroom while having fun family time with these learning games. Parents will be able to come in and borrow a Spanish file folder game that will be stored and easily accessible to them on the family engagement storage rack.
Students love to talk and share their day with family, especially all the fun activities they have done in class. Students will be excited to share their artistic projects with their families at home. A double-space mobile drying rack, will free up much-needed space in the classroom so that all 30 students can complete an art project to take home and talk about it with their families.
