My Students

As a kindergarten teacher, I have the most wonderful privilege of impacting the lives of our youngest students as they begin their educational journey in elementary school.

It brings me so much joy to experience my students' excitement for learning and their curiosity for the world around them each and every day!

It still amazes me each year how much progress my students make on so many levels and I am grateful that I can play an important role in helping them reach these milestones!

My Project

Many kindergarten students in my class are familiar with picture books and fiction stories. However, when it comes to informational texts, I have noticed that my students have difficulties reading and interacting with it in meaningful ways. Therefore, I would love to use the weekly Scholastic magazines to help them become more confident as readers, extend their knowledge, and engage in nonfiction text in more meaningful ways. We will call these magazines our "kindergarten newspapers" and students will be able to take them home to share with their families. We will also utilize the online component that comes with the subscription to enhance learning through relevant short video clips that go along with the topic as well as learning games that foster and help build important reading skills and strategies.
