My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day.

We are an inclusion kindergarten classroom containing regular education students as well as special education students within a public school in a high poverty area, working very hard daily.

The students are 5 and 6 years old and for many this is their first educational experience.

My Project

I am requesting alphabet letter squares that will help the students to spell simple cvc words, but can also be used for grouping and to provide them boundaries of their own personal space while participating in Readers Workshop independently. The book cart that I am requesting will hold and organize all of the students book bags that they use daily, making it easier for them to locate their book bag as well as to put it away. My studetns will learn independence, working together, tolerance and most of all the joy of reading through independence, choral or partner reading as well.

My project is so very important to me as an educator.

Kindergarten is the foundation for life long learning and the students learn letters, sounds and blending to promote and encourage reading and this flows into their writing abilities as well. Please help us to gain these materials within our classroom to help my students gain a true love an appreciation for reading.
