My students need 5 Kids Kindle Fires and 5 MicroSD cards for memory expansion. We will use this technology to develop literacy and 21st century technology skills.
Many children are jumping into the 21st century with an overwhelming amount of resources and technological advancements that change every day. I want to teach my students from their earliest days of school how to effectively and safely use these advancements and resources to their advantage.
Our wonderful school is located in the heart of the farm lands of Plant City, FL.
Our population is very diverse with a mixture of families from high and low socioeconomic levels as well as a large migrant population. Despite our challenges, Knights has been a trend setter for the district and we continue striving to achieve our school motto of "Second to None" through innovations in the educational process.
My Project
With the use of the 5 Kindle Fire Kids Edition tablets and SD cards, students will safely learn how to use apps that improve their literacy and education in all other areas in fun and exciting ways. My students will be able to use these tablets for group work, individual reading, playing educational apps, learning how to do research and many more exciting things that will come with further technological advancements.
This version of the Kindle also utilizes Amazon’s “Whispercast,” which enables the administrator to monitor all of the devices, decide what apps and literature will be on each Kindle, block undesirable content, and it provides access to thousands of free resources including apps and literature to add to the Kindle.
With the use of Kindles in our classroom, we will enable our students to make leaps and bounds in all subject areas, especially with our emphasis on literacy.
We will also begin the students on a responsible track towards digital citizenship, which will be essential for students in the 21st century. We thank you for considering to donate to our project.
