Now we all know that kindergartners need lots of hands on activities, and don’t forget the visuals. This age group is on the run and ready to learn! Kindergarten is a wonderful age where everything is fun and exciting. With distance learning this has been a little tricky.
One way to hold kindergartners' attention, is changing things up and creating a learning environment that inspires the imagination.
That includes dressing up, making faces, and teaching with puppets. Sometimes, I suspect that they like the puppets more than they like me! Whatever gets them laughing is a sure way to win their hearts. Likewise, if the setting is unique or eye catching I know they will enjoy the lesson.
For the past month, all 23 of my kindergartners have been attending class online. I have been creating videos for my students to watch and receive instruction. We have also been meeting on Hangouts. Despite the huge change, my students are still diligently working and doing their best. It’s only fair that I do what I can to keep them engaged.
My Project
Teaching with puppets is a fun interactive way to engage students. Kindergartners love meeting new characters and learning with them.
By contributing to this project, you will be providing students with a unique opportunity to learn through play.
Since starting distance learning I have incorporated more puppets and visuals into my lessons. A puppet theater would bring my videos to a whole new level. This handy tool will enhance my lessons and make them more engaging and silly. The theater will be used to teach phonological awareness to my kindergartners. I have had multiple parents tell me that their child loves the puppets and will re-watch that part of the video multiple times. This is exactly what I want! I want students to look forward to their online lessons and learn through play.
Thank you for taking the time to reach out and help make learning magical!
