My students come in every day and are eager to learn and thrive at school. I try to work hard each and every day to provide a learning environment that my students are proud of and enjoy! As a first-year teacher right out of college, it is hard for me to provide my students with the materials they need and deserve!
I proudly work at a Title I school, where 100% of the students receive free lunch.
Most of my students come from low socioeconomic families, where they often lack basic resources that other children often take for granted. I have many single-parent families that often work two and three jobs to provide food and a home for their children. I have students who have experienced homelessness, hunger, sleep deprivation, moving, foster homes, and much more.
I want to teach my students how to be successful citizens in life, no matter what kind of a background they come from. I make it my goal every day to provide a rich learning environment where my students can feel safe, loved, and where they can reach their full potential!
My Project
My students need age-appropriate storage to store things like math manipulatives and STEM related materials. Having storage that the students can easily access, will allow my students to independently use and access materials they need in class. Basic classroom items such as glue sticks, scissors, paper, etc. need to be in an open space where students can get materials they need.
Having open storage will allow students to gradually be able to develop more independence throughout the year.
Students come into kindergarten very unsure of rules and expectations. I want my students to be able to choose STEM related materials to use in the morning times. These materials can't just be sitting out unless they are organized in some sort of storage. This is where the tiered cart and the toy storage will come in handy! These can be set up in the classroom and will have all the materials we use regularly in them. Please help our class get organized!
