Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
You will not find a harder working group of students than the ones in my classroom. Even at four and five years old, their work ethic never ceases to amaze me. I have a very diverse room of students with every ethnicity being represented. More than 55% of our students are English Language Learners.
Most of my students qualify for free lunch and come from hardworking families who are trying their best to overcome a variety of different obstacles.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting will be used during math time to help my students reach their end-of-year math goals. Each day we spend our math period doing math centers which the kids just love. It truly is their favorite time of day! Each center has a different focus so that students are exposed to 5 different concepts a day. Each center is differentiated to match student need and ability level so that no center is too hard or too easy. To accommodate every student, we need a variety of math materials which I am requesting in this project. We need subtraction games, teen number games, scales, number sense games, and a variety of other math materials. I truly believe that with these materials, my students will go above and beyond and learn everything they need to know to be successful in first grade. There is no doubt that these materials will change my students' learning experiences for the better.
Having hands-on manipulatives that my students can use to learn is essential for kindergarten students, especially those that struggle with conventional teaching methods.
I believe that with these materials, each and every one of my students will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and gain the confidence they need to go forward as successful students and individuals.
