My kindergarten students all come to me with a wide variety of educational levels. There are some that have had preschool/Head Start and some that have never been exposed to any type of formal education.
My students are very excited to learn at whatever level they are on.
The students come from a variety of socioeconomic status; some children are helped by different agencies who provide anything from shoes, boots, and clothing to coats. I love my students and want the best education I can give them.
Math Centers in kindergarten is a way for me to differentiate math instruction and to allow me to work with small groups of children. The Math Center supplies will be kept in the storage draws numbered 1-10. By reading the pocket chart, which will have the child's picture and a number by it, the child will then know what drawer to take out of the storage cart.
The storage cart will foster independence in the kindergarten classroom.
The children will work in pairs to complete the task in the drawer. Once the task is complete they will put the drawer back in it's proper place, allowing the next rotation of math centers to proceed without any problems.
