My Students
My school is in a high poverty area and I usually have 20 or 21 students in my classroom. All my students qualify for free lunches.
My students come to school for not only an education, but for the meals and loving environment.
I pride myself in making this experience at school the best it can be. I know every child learns differently and my job as a teacher is to help these kiddos feel loved and give them every opportunity to further their education.
Every year my classroom has some expense for the new school year and new curriculum. I make available in my class many different manipulatives and experiences to try and meet all learning styles.
Any donations for my classroom are always greatly appreciated.
My Project
My students visit our classroom library everyday during our academic stations. I believe if I offer fun new books to my students, this will encourage a love for reading. I want to give my kiddos the opportunity to check out these books and enjoy reading at home with their family. These readers are on level with my kindergarten students. My students will benefit from having these readers available everyday while visiting the reading station. My class will be able to recognize sight words that we have worked on in these readers, and feel success by reading the book on their own.
