My kindergarten students this year should have all they need to learn to read the and I would love to give them a classroom listening center as well as books and cds. Kindergarteners have a zest for learning and having fun. Every day, I hear my students say "this is so much fun" and "I wish we could do this all day". They truly have a genuine love of learning, on top of having such wonderfully kind hearts. They inspire me to be the best teacher I can be and always keep learning!
My Project
Having this listening center will be wonderful to let these children listen to books on CD in the listening center as they read along. As teachers, we always stress the importance of parents reading to their children; however, not every child has this opportunity. That is why, I would like to create a listening center in my classroom. Beside teaching them critical listening skills, I believe listening centers can help students decode unfamiliar words, introduces new vocabulary, and models fluent reading. My kindergarten students need a functional listening center that include a CD player with multiple headphone jacks, headphones, and several books on CD to help them achieve their goals.
