This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"
Please help my students go many places by giving them the gift of books and reading!
My students are 5 and 6 year olds living in an urban area.
They attend Kindergarten at a large elementary school in what is considered a high poverty area. Many of the come from homes where they are being raised by single parents or grandparents. Due to their low socioeconomic status, many of them do not have the opportunities that they deserve, but they work hard everyday and have an excitement for learning. Please help to continue this excitement by making a donation to our classroom library project.
My Project
My students love books, but many of them do not have access to books at home. This project will allow my students the opportunity to explore a variety of books in the classroom setting. Having book shelves that allow students to view book covers will help them in their choices. When students self-select the books that they read, they develop a sense of pride and ownership, both of which are essential to success in school and life.
Donations to this project will help my students improve their reading skills and grow their love of reading.
Please help this class, and future classes, become lifelong readers and learners! They are the future!
