My Students

The pandemic has hit us unlike anything that we've ever seen. Schools, businesses, and parks have all closed down leaving children nowhere to go to have fun, especially in urban areas.

I teach at a Title I school in Knoxville, TN.

We have around 100 kindergartners who are almost all free or reduced lunch. The neighborhood loves their teachers, so let us show them a little love back.

My Project

Pencil and paper are the two most commonly used tools used in the classroom. Often, students are spending countless hours working on worksheets... leaving little time for creativity and play.

This project will allow students to use LEGOs at home to get their creative juices flowing.

LEGOs can be integrated into reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. For example, students can create high-frequency words instead of writing them. Students can create habitats and animals that they learn about in science. Students can create their own world map by making all of the continents during a social studies lesson. You see.. LEGOs can be used for learning. And to be honest, we learn a lot better when we are also having fun.
