My students need small group activities for literacy and math centers. They also need writing paper and books for our listening center.
Every child is unique. The best way for them to learn is to work in small groups with other children that have similar interests and needs.
My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood in the inner-city.
Unfortunately, their families are not able to provide much financially. For most of them, kindergarten is their first school experience, and I would hate for that experience to be limited due to situations out of their control.
My kindergarteners will use these literacy and math learning centers to enhance their school experience. They will work in small, leveled groups to practice the basic skills (letter recognition, writing, counting, sorting, etc.) that are introduced in a whole group setting.
This project will benefit my students because their ability levels vary.
They will be able to get the extra practice they need in order to master a particular skill. Being able to work in small groups will also help them with their socialization skills.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
