Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are so excited to learn and grow. For many, this is their first opportunity to experience a school setting. Our school community welcomes students and their families from all over the world. We celebrate all cultures and learn from each other.
It is a joy to see my students learn both socially and academically!
These children amaze me every day! The majority come from poverty, but they don't let that discourage them. These boys and girls overcome many obstacles as they work hard to lay the foundation of a successful education. They have big dreams, and I am there to encourage and support them along the way.
My Project
Kindergarten students are naturally curious and love to explore. With the STEM materials such as Legos, magnet tiles, and connecting blocks my kids will be able to develop problem solving skills, creativity and excitement for learning. My students will use these materials during station time. The goal will be for students to have choice in supporting their own interests. They will use the Legos and various other options to build new and exciting structures. In addition, my students will make huge growth in their social emotional development. These materials help students develop their language and problem solving skills.

My school is located in a high poverty area near downtown Denver. With these items my kindergartners will be able to create and explore! They will work together, experiment with new ideas and persevere to overcome challenges or obstacles in the process.
