My students need upper and lower case cut outs so that they may better learn to recognize and use the alphabet in our writing and publishing center. Playing with numbers will help them to learn.
Our school houses children preschool aged through eighth grade.
We are the center of a small community in West Virginia.
Many of our families have made their living for generations in the coal fields. Due to the cutbacks in coal production, we are experiencing a lack of funding in our schools which are fueled through coal severance taxes. Our basic needs are met but there is never enough money for the extra things that pique kid's interest in learning. These children love creating and learning through self expressive activities.
My Project
Our students need activities that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing, as well as numbers. The students will use these materials to build, create, count and in making letters and sounds, then words! These activities will be used during Learning Centers and throughout the day as we read and write while learning together. They will be able to use these manipulatives during our whole group and small group time, learning letters and sounds as they make words. They will learn numbers, and make sets as we explore counting skills.
