My students need a wide variety of resources in order to explore the world around them. The items found in the Real World Stem Kit for small groups, STEM Early Learning kit, Design and Building Engineering Centers, Building Bricks STEM kit and collage boards will do just that!
Our elementary school is a small rural school serving a wide variety of multicultural families in Pettis County. Our school currently has an enrollment of 40% ELL (English Language Learners) with a 73% of our students who qualify to receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students have few opportunities for experiences outside of school due to the majority of families living at or below the poverty line as can be seen by the rate of students receiving free or reduced lunch.
My Project
The materials in this project will provide my students with a wide variety of STE(a)M activities. These materials will allow students to explore materials from the safety of the classroom. Our school is THE place to explore and learn, otherwise, those opportunities are lost, due to lack of experiences being offered at home.
The STEAM materials chosen will allow students opportunities to work with others to solve real-world problems that will then translate into problem solving skills the students will need for life.
The Real-World-STEM Challenges Small group kit will allow my students to work together in critical thinking activities! Using the Water Play STEM Early Learning kit, the Design and Building Engineering Centers, the Building Bricks STEM kit as well as the collage boards will give students individual opportunities to create and explore critical thinking skills needed for life.
