My students come from many different backgrounds. One of my main goals is to allow them all to grow together while learning! Our school is a Title I school in Texas and we are working hard to increase the literacy, mathematical, and scientific skills of our students. We want our children to be able to be whatever they want to be when they grow up.
My young kindergarten scholars need your help to grow their skills!
These kindergarten students are excited about each and every day in our classroom. I want them to be able to experience things in a meaningful way, and I want to connect students to the early skills that are so important to experience in kindergarten.
My Project
As important as reading, writing, and arithmetic are, studies show that fine motor skills are the most important foundational skills. Having strong fine motor skills allows students to succeed not only in school but in life!
Without fine motor skills, my students wouldn't be able to write, use scissors, or even color!
I am requesting materials to build morning centers for my students that will improve their fine motor skills. The students will get a tub and will use the Play-Doh extruders to build creations while gaining strength. They'll cut the straws with scissors, chopping up plastic while building those skills necessary to become writers. The kinetic sand and paint daubers are just two more tools that will help my students develop their fine motor skills.
Once my students have a strong foundation in fine motor ability, they'll be ready to learn handwriting, art, and so many other fun kindergarten skills! Their enhanced fine motor skills will make their handwriting more readable, which makes writing stories and essays much more enjoyable for them down the road. These are the skills that an educational career is built on, and I am so excited to emphasize fine motor activity in my classroom!
