Kindergarteners need to move. Sitting still to work can seem like torture to my young students. In a choice between sitting to read or dancing the Hokey Pokey most would choose dancing. We can help them move and learn with Hokki Stools.
I teach a kindergarten inclusion class in a Title I school in North Carolina.
Our school serves all the preschool and kindergarten students in the city school district. A third of my students receive Exceptional Children services. Another third of my students are learning English as a second language.
My students need two blue Hokki stools. We received a gel seat and an exercise ball chair through Donors Choose proposals this year. My students are anxious to get their turns to sit in these chairs when they come to my table to read in their small group. These stools will give my students more opportunities for movement when they are sitting to read and write.
I strive to provide a rich learning environment for my students.
I give my students opportunities to move and learn throughout the day. My students come to school to learn so they can't just do the Hokey Pokey all day. My students can move when they play, dance, and sit to read with your donation.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
