This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is changing! Beginning next school year, I will have an Inclusion Blended classroom. My students will still be aged three to five years. I will have 15 students in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. Rather than being a self-contained ECSE room, my students will also consist of typically developing kiddos without IEPs! I am so excited for this new experience.
I teach in a high-poverty Title I school.
More than three-quarters of the students in our school are from low-income households. My classroom will be the first school experience for the majority of my students and I want it to set the tone for their future education. Therefore, I do all that I can to make their experience one that is exciting and motivating for them.
My Project
Most of my students are in my classroom for two years and some I have for three years. It is difficult for them to get used to the idea that they will be going to a different teacher when they go to kindergarten.
A book about kindergarten is just what they need to feel better about switching to their new classroom!
Most of my students will attend a different school building when they go to kindergarten. They will have to adjust to a new building, classroom, teacher, and friends! That is a lot of changes! These books will help to calm their fears about heading to kindergarten.
