My students need a wireless upgrade for our new Mimio. Without the wireless upgrade we cannot use this interactive tool to help us learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever gotten something that you thought would be great to use but found out it was useless because you were missing the most important component? That's what happened to us. The hook-up for the computer is too far away from the white board and the cords make it unsafe for the children.
Our school is a Title I school.
The poverty level is high with a large percentage of students on free/reduced lunch. The majority of our students are ELL (English Language Learners). We need functioning technology to enhance the learning of our students. Many do not have computers at home.
I am in a co-teach classroom with 2 teachers and 27 students. Space is limited and extension cords are not an option. Our students learn better with interactive activities. They need to experience concepts so they can learn and retain information. The up-grade would make this possible for my students.
My Project
In Kindergarten, our students learn by tasting, smelling, touching, hearing, and seeing. By using the Mimio in the classroom our students will get to experience technology in a whole new way. The Mimio allows the children to interact with the computer without sitting behind it. The whole class can participate at the same time. We can see what the children know without having pencil paper activities.
We have the resources to make the Mimio a great learning tool for our students. What we don't have is the right equipment. My room is set-up backwards. The computer is on one side of the room and the white board is on the other. This makes the Mimio useless because the cords would have to run across the floor and cause a safety issue. The wireless upgrade would eliminate the safety issue and provide a great opportunity for my students to learn.
The upgrade to our Mimio would create a safe learning environment for students to interact and learn.
Use of this technology projects the activity onto the whiteboard so the children can problem solve together. It makes concepts visible to everyone.
Right now the Mimio sits in a box on my shelf because I don't have the right set-up in my room. An upgrade would get rid of the obstacle we face.
