My students need this Kindle to access digital reading material.
Can you imagine having any book you want to read right at your fingertips?
My kindergarten students were born into a world filled with technology, but many of them are from homes where those resources are not available.
Our school is a Title One school where the majority of our students are economically deprived with a large percentage receiving free or reduced lunches. Many of them are also English Language Learners.
We are lucky to have 3 student computers, a Smart Board, and one Kindle Fire in our classroom, but an additional Kindle would give my students portable access to resources not available in our school's library. Fortunately, the school system adopted a new reading series that is completely digital. Wouldn't it be awesome if my students could access those online resources (level readers, vocabulary videos, and phonics activities) right from their seats? A Kindle Fire would also provide my students with easy access to our city's public library.
Not only would an additional Kindle Fire be used to enhance the reading skills of my kindergarten students, but it would also give them access to a wide variety of math apps to improve critical thinking skills.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
