Our school is in an urban district and it has over five hundred students. Many of my students are second language learners and many are socio-economically disadvantaged. About seventy-five percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunches. Our population consists of about forty-five percent African American and about ten percent Latino. We come from all different walks of life and we learn to love learning. This school is a nice neighborhood school with a variety of cultures. We strive to celebrate our differences. This is a big school with a small, hometown feeling.
My project will help students to be able to independently practice their math facts, sight words, and reading by using games and reading apps to learn on these Amazon Fire HD tablets. The Amazon tablets with help support them in their reading, sight words and math as well as being able to use them throughout the classroom. Many of my students may not have the resources to practice at home. They need to be set up for success in Kindergarten in order to be ready for First Grade! Sight words, math, and reading are skills that need to be acquired in Kindergarten so that First grade will be successful. Times are changing and we need to change with them! Using Amazon tablets will help my students use technology to give them support in learning specific skills. Please help my students be successful in their future endeavors!
