"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." Albert Einsteins words are something that every teacher should think about on a daily basis.
I am the lucky teacher of 24 kids in the morning and 24 kids in the afternoon.
That is 48 little minds that will be our future leaders and our hope for tomorrow. They are eager to learn new things in a variety of ways each and everyday and I am just as eager to teach them new concepts daily.
My Project
I only get my students for 2 1/2 per day. I must teach them everything they need to know in a small amount of time. I do a lot of cross curricular learning in my room. I have developed some great math and literacy centers in my room. I want to create a science center that they will be able to continue their literacy and mathematical learning through experiments with great learning materials.
I want them to be able to explore non-fiction concepts though the use of microscope and prepared slides. They will be able to do experiments with magnets, light table manipulatives, and many other scientific activities. They can explore the world of doctors during community helper week with the X-ray slides and light table. The light table will lend itself to endless possibilities with the light table kits. They will explore the properties of simple physics with the STEM Science Kit. I want to give them the opportunity to listen to non-fictional text in our science center listening table.
With your help I can open up a whole new center experience to my students.
We do not get a lot of time for science activities in 2 1/2 of class per day. This center is something I have always dreamed of adding to my classroom for my amazing students. They will love exploring these new activities and I will be able to integrate math, reading and math activities into science.
