Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kinder students are in need of fine motor skill development. I work in a Title 1 school and most of my students have not had opportunities to use scissors prior to their first time in a school setting. I have quite a few students that struggle to hold scissors and get discouraged when they do not cut in a straight line. I would love to be able to give them more opportunities to be creative while learning and developing their fine motor skills.
My Project
Fine motor skills are essential for performing everyday tasks like buttoning and tying. But fine motor skills are also necessary for early academics such as holding a pencil to write and using scissors to cut. When students gain independence with their fine motor skills, their confidence soars! Lakeshore Learning has excellent play dough center activities that will help my little ones flourish not only with fine motor skills, but ELA and math as well! Play dough centers include leaning counting, shapes, and letters through use of play dough. These play dough learning activities and tools will help my young students stregthen their hand muscles and obtain more scissor practice time, all while having a fun and engaging learning experience. Kinder kids learn best through play! Please help my students delve lip academic and fine motor skills through use of play dough.
