Help me give my students the ability to create and design their own t-shirt and supplies while offering a sense of ownership while teaching Math, Science, ELA, & Social Studies and self-expression.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities. The typical student in my class reads at a third-grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. 90% of our students are African American or Latino. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction in math, reading, and writing. Having this Cricut will allow me to personalize the students' materials and create some more fun projects for the classroom. Special ed students as well as general ed students love when their materials are personalized. They not only enjoy the creativity and the colors but the feeling of ownership of their belongings.
My Project
The Cricut will make a difference because it will not only allow for a more creative, colorful, and customized classroom but they will make the classroom more cohesive. The children's learning areas will become more organized and help them access areas with more ease. Students would be able to create and design their own t-shirts and supplies while offering a sense of ownership while teaching math, science, social studies, ELA, and self-expression. Seeing the students help create their own spaces will be another step in the direction of ownership and accountability. The possibilities are seriously endless!
