This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Keep us comfy! My students will be spending a lot of their instructional time on the floor for whole group lessons. They need a comfortable space to sit on instead of the hard floor!

My students attend a high poverty school in the Chicago Public Schools network.

My students are kindergarteners who love to learn and are excited to begin their academic careers. My students will be using the rug for almost every subject of the day and would be appreciative of your help.

My Project

With a large rug for my students, they will each have their own safe space to sit on the rug for whole group instruction. They can also use the rug during their independent reading time so that they can sit back and relax to read a book. A rug will help provide my class with a welcoming environment where they can feel safe and ready to learn!

Unfortunately, cuts to school budgets has made necessary materials like a classroom rug the teacher's responsibility.

This is a large investment for me to make alone and any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
