Every day is a whirlwind of new and unexpected occurrences in kindergarten! I love it! Kindergarten involves an immense amount of whole group instruction. We are working together all day! Something that will assist students during our whole group instruction is to have an interactive easel.
Students in my classroom are typical fun loving five year olds.
They are curious and have a passion for learning that is extremely contagious. Every topic we discuss leads to new and exciting discoveries. The school I teach at is determined and dedicated to assisting all students in their educational journeys. Teachers spend the majority of their free time at school planning and spend their own money to buy items for their classrooms. I love my school and am honored to be teaching with such amazing students, families, and faculty!
My Project
Having an interactive easel in the classroom will create more opportunities to write interactively, share reading skills through big books, and provide our classroom with a white board that can be moved around the room. I implement interactive writing which is where students have opportunities to cooperatively write a class piece with large paper on the easel. The easel allows everyone to see the piece and intensifies writing instruction. While writing interactively, I will be able to jot down student ideas on the white board. I can display our finished writing pieces on the back of the easel so students can read their finished products. Students will also be able to read big books with me as I display the books on the easel. Students take ideas and concepts we practice through interactive writing and reading big books with the easel and implement the ideas in their independent writing and reading.
An interactive easel will create richer learning opportunities in reading and writing not only for my students this year but for students in years to come.
Writing and reading instruction will benefit from the easel because I will be able to display class writing pieces and also big books. All students will be able to see instruction on this easel and it will give students opportunities to teach each other. Thank you!
