My students are coming into Kindergarten. They are excited to be at school and ready to learn! My class will be doing lots of activities each day. I want to give my class lots of opportunities to learn. Some kids learn best by drawing, others by listening. My goal is to create a classroom with lots of modalities for learning. Each day in reading groups the students will practice letter and sound games, meet with me, go to a listening center, and play a game with a parent volunteer.
I am in the process of opening a new school and am starting with a brand new building.
Each day my kindergartners come together for a class meeting. It is nice to have a carpet with shapes that can identify where to sit. Young learners struggle with personal space and this Leaf Carpet is cheerful and gives opportunities for students to have a spot of their own.
I will use the Leaf Carpet to meet for mini lessons, class meetings, and breaks.
We also break up into small groups and this would be the perfect place for a parent or volunteer to work with a small group with a game, book, or activity. My classroom this year does not have windows and the Leaf Carpet will add a cheerful outdoor feel to the room.
