Ms. L. from MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need equipment, such as an exerbug and tricycles, which will let them exercise during their school day when it is cold, rainy and snowy outside.

Imagine being 4 or 5 years old and wanting to have some fun in school. Imagine how excited my new students will be when they see what you have donated to help them exercise and have fun during recess and free time. Imagine watching them race down the hall with their friends from the 2 other classes.
I have been transferred to a great school to teach kindergarten.
My new school has over 60 kindergarten children. We have a play ground, but we do not have any equipment for the children to use inside when it is raining or snowing outside. Our children work hard in class learning reading, writing, science, and social studies. However, young children need to exercise every day, and they need an outlet for all of that wonderful energy which they possess. Exercise is very important to help them stay alert and fit for their long days at school. Kindergarten children are supposed to have gross motor time multiple times every day. I would like to provide the children of all three classes with equipment which they can use to use to get exercise when weather does not allow us to go outside, so that the children may still have the exercise they need and want.
Imagine being a group of 4 to 5 year old children who love to do their work, and who work so hard for their teachers. Imagine coming to school from a neighborhood where you are not safe playing outside. Imagine having tricycles and exercise bugs to use in the safety of your school after you have done your work. Gross motor time is required for kindergarten children in Michigan. However, our school district does not give our schools money to provide materials for indoor gross motor time. Kindergarten children learn better when their class work is broke up with gross motor time. Kindergarten children need strong gross motor skills, so they can engage in age-appropriate physical activities such as running, climbing, and throwing, and so they can participate in classroom activities that require body control such as walking in a crowded room or sitting still during a lesson. I am requesting 2 tricycles and 2 scooter exerbugs for the children to use to improve their gross motor skills.
Your donation to this project will allow wonderful children from a great school in a struggling school district to have some equipment to use to enhance their gross motor development indoors when rain and snow prohibit outdoor gross motor activity.
Your donation will put smiles on 65 faces when the boxes with equipment come to our school and the children see their new equipment. The children will make you pictures showing their big smiles and the fun they are having racing in our hall.
