Do you remember your first year in Kindergarten, sitting on the classroom rug, listening to stories read, exploring math manipulatives, and playing with blocks? Imagine doing this on a dirty, tattered, dull, gray rug. That's where we do a lot of our learning at this moment. We need your help!
My students are a diverse group of inner city students from the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.
Families live in both single family homes and apartments. They are an eager and enthusiastic group of students with exceptionally active and caring parents who participate in the classroom on a weekly basis. The students come from various, educational backgrounds, (some with preschool experience and others without). Either way, they are a wonderful group of kids who are eager to learn and love school and deserve a clean, welcoming, learning atmosphere!
My Project
A calm, comfortable, and clean learning environment are all benefits my students will have from this particular carpet. Rows and columns of colored squares create for easy grouping of students, and also support rules and procedures, and classroom management. Students gain a sense of belonging and security, which in turn fosters a safe and comfortable learning environment. Everyday on the carpet, we learn about calendar, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, writing, math, science, social studies, and art. Students spend a majority of their learning and exploring time on the carpet. Therefore, a clean and comfortable carpet is a classroom necessity.
I work at a wonderful school.
The students and the parents are great! The parents truly try to provide everything and anything for their child. As a teacher, I go above and beyond my budget to help out with classroom supplies. This carpet would mean so much to our classroom, providing a clean, inviting learning environment that every child deserves.
