My students amaze me! I teach a class of 25 kindergartners in an urban school district. Many of our students face economic and environmental challenges at home but that does not stop them from coming to school every day with a positive attitude. These kids deserve the best!
This is a diverse group of passionate learners.
Many of my students are refugees from Asia and Africa. They come to the United States of America sometimes having no experience in a school at all. In spite of this, they come to school with a passion to learn every day. I am impressed by their resilience again and again.
My Project
These items will help our classroom to function efficiently. Having new items to start our year off will set us up for success. Students will use these items daily in their learning. The pencils, scissors and glue are a daily staple in both our math and literacy centers. They aid in providing hands on learning. The dry erase markers and pockets will provide students with opportunities to practice their handwriting daily. The folders are used for fluency practice each morning, which is how we get our day started off. Lastly, the snap folders are used to send papers home to families. These will help to make sure nothing gets lost or falls out between our classroom and home.
All students deserve new, quality supplies.
Having new items, that are all the same will encourage students to work hard no matter what they have to do. I encourage independence and perseverance in learning and these materials will help the students in my classroom to develop these skills along with so many more!
