Inquisitive! Bright! Creative! Funny! Eager! These are words that I use to describe my kindergarten students. I teach in a low income/high poverty school in South Carolina. Many of my students face many challenges, both academically and personally. Many are raised in single parent homes or by grandparents. Many students live in multi-family homes. However, regardless of their circumstances, they enter the classroom each day ready to take on the world! My students are each uniquely different, we are a classroom family, excited about learning! Time and time again, when challenged, I see my students go above and beyond!
I have so many exciting plans for the Cricut Explore in our classroom. Kindergarten has become more and more academic. Long gone are the days of social centers and "fun" student creations. The Cricut will help me create fun, engaging activities to follow up our reading and writing lessons.
A Cricut in the classroom will spark student creativity as they work to publish their writing each week.
For example, when writing about penguins, students will be supplied with their very own penguin cut out to design and decorate. Students will be able to assemble parts of a robot cut with this Cricut. Students will be able to sequence letters and numbers cut quickly and easily with the Cricut during independent work stations. The possibilites are endless, and I am excited to see the creativity this Cricut inspires.
