Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine what the future will be like. We imagine it to be fully integrated with technology. My students come from an area of our society where accessible technology is only available at school. Without your help, they may not be prepared for a future full of technology.

My classroom is full of bright individual five year old children who are eager to learn and experience new things.

Many are second language learners, who need a different kind of educational approach other than the traditional teacher lead classroom. Our community and therefore our school is mostly immigrant families trying to make better lives for their families here in America. Our campus is a Title 1 school and we have a 95% socioeconomically disadvantaged population. 98% are a part of the free lunch program. While their families struggle to make ends meet, we try hard here at school to provide them with all the opportunities the more advantaged schools have.

My Project

With your help in purchasing the 4 iPad Minis and the accessories for our class room, we will be able to start these young learners with a good technological foundation for their future. iPads are a very versatile resource. We will not only be able to use them to do research, we will be able to practice and refine language and math skills through the many available apps from Apple. They will be able to improve their creativity in using the camera features to take pictures and videos for various projects. It will also expose our students to new and innovative technologies that will undoubtedly play a big part in their future in education and beyond. We are working to think outside the box to engage the students in their education. These devices will serve to provide an important avenue to increasing their knowledge, creativity and problem solving skills.

A strong foundation for kindergarten in using technology and being given the gift of a new way to experience learning will not only help these individuals.

It will surely help our society in whole by helping to create life long learners with the ability to be the innovators and creators of our future.
