Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are now a combination of English speakers and English language learners that want to become bilingual. Our school is a Title One school. Their Internet access is spotty at best; they are not always able to meet daily for our Zoom meetings. They need other ways to also keep busy during such a challenging time. They are currently in need of materials to continue learning from home.
My Project
My students' parents, like all parents, are going through a challenging time, but their situation is more complicated. I asked what they needed to make life easier at home during the quarantine. They responded that the children would benefit from having games, snacks, art supplies. Parents also requested laundry detergent. I picked a variety of games because some families would like to try some new games with their children and some don't have any. Art supplies like paint, clay, and project kits will come in handy to provide them a creative outlet.
