My students have the desire to learn but need the extra resources to help get them started to being well on their way to first grade. They enjoy being on the floor and working on puzzles, but puzzles missing pieces are just not as fun!
I teach kindergarten in a high poverty school.
Students come in with the willingness and desire to learn and love to work puzzles and play games to help them in both reading and math. I want to be able to give my students the activities that they enjoy doing while helping them achieve the appropriate educational level by the end of the school year.
My Project
My students will use these puzzles and games in the classroom during small group and independent work times. Students will be able to think that they are just "playing" when in actuality they will be learning as they play. These will help to maintain order in the classroom during small group time as students who are learning and having fun are less likely to act out.
The students that I work with really appreciate the games and activities that are provided to them in the classroom as many of them do not have puzzles and games to play at home to help them with their academics.
