This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do more with less! My kindergarten students need basic supplies to prevent an added stress within the classroom.
My school is located in a low-income neighborhood.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch and are unable to provide basic school supplies needed for kindergarten. I will have about 20 kindergarten students who need paper, folders, and a pencil sharpener.
My Project
I have requested an electric pencil sharpener so that pencils can be sharpened in an effective and timely matter so that most of the day can be spent on instruction. My students need a pocket folder that will be used to send home homework and important papers. I have requested dry erase markers and mini erasers which will be a fun alternative to using paper and pencil every day. We also need index cards which will be sent home weekly as sight word flashcards.
Paper, folders, a pencil sharpener, markers, and index cards are not just thinks that we want for enjoyment.
They are the bare minimum needed to help our kindergarten class run smoothly. Having these items will contribute to my students' education getting off to a great start!
