Kindergarteners WANT to learn and enjoy doing it--Could there be any better place to teach than a room of 18 five- and six-year-olds? My kids are a very energetic group of students who love reading and literacy centers. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Each student is a standout individual, but they come together to make the most amazing class. These kids make coming to work every day something to look forward to. They deserve the best!
I teach in a SW Florida school with a great deal of diversity and kids that all have different needs.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to ensure each and every student that walks through my door gets the very best education and experience possible! Every day with my students is another day to be thankful for.
Literacy centers are at the heart of our reading instruction. Centers give students the opportunity to practice literacy skills, work cooperatively, and take charge building their understanding. With the help of this project, my students will get the materials they need to build their skills in a fun, meaningful way. Right now, we have a limited collection of activities. Most of what the kids use are items that I have personally purchased, but, unfortunately, I can't supply my room with all the learning activities my students need.
With these materials, my students will practice basic skills, learn new skills, and become better readers!
Sight word puzzles help students practice recognizing and spelling sight words, making them easier to spot when decoding text. The file folder games will help students practice critical phonemic awareness skills that will build a solid foundation for students who struggle with hearing and understanding how words are built. Sight word readers provide a fun way to put all the skills together with more fun beyond what our curriculum offers. Together, these items will help to amp up our literacy centers and make them fun and accessible for all my students!
