Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are full of energy and have a strong love for school. I want school to be a place where they can feel happy, be safe, be creative, and have fun. With many of my students facing challenges in their home life, I want to create a classroom environment where my students can feel successful and proud.

The students at my school are from the Southside of Chicago.

Over 96% of the students at my school are low income and 100% are minority students. These little learners are proud of their school and they are invested in their growth. I am looking forward to meeting the newest class of Kindergarteners on their first day of school. It promises to be a year full of exploration and excitement. I am eager to see these little minds benefit from some of these big items that will enhance my classroom through your support and help.

My Project

The main items in this project are multiple Chromebooks for the technology center. These computers were very successful in my first year of​ teaching experience and I would like to provide students with more opportunities to explore with these products. They will be able to play reading and letter games with these during our literacy center time. In addition to the Chromebooks, I have requested items that will expand our literacy centers and library.

One of my main goals is for all my students to grow their reading levels so that they can leave my classroom and be ready to take on first grade.

I am excited to see these new materials arrive for my students. There are multiple items that are necessary in order for my students to feel that they are a part of a safe and fun learning environment.
